Dr. Jorge Barrera
Dr. Jorge Barrera’s joy as a child was spending time on his family’s ranch in El Salvador, Central America. He knew since he was in junior high he wanted to help animals. While his Dad’s family were city-dwellers, his Mom’s extended family owned the ranch where he spent his free time. He went to Veterinary school at the Center University Studies in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He graduated in 1984 before traveling to California in 1985 where he passed all medical boards. He is a member of American Veterinary Association and California Veterinary Association, in good standing. He is licensed to practice in California, Oregon and Wisconsin. Dr. Barerra strives to practice the best medicine possible in a compassionate way.
After owning his own practice for many years he has joined the team at Affordable Animal Hospital Silver Lake, taking great pride in his assistance with the health care of small animals. He excels at soft tissue surgery and believes strongly in Preventative Medicine as the foremost method in keeping pets healthy. He has two dogs and a cat of his own, Samsung, Sofi and Yoda.
Dr. Vallard Forsythe, DVM
Dr. Vallard Forsythe studied at Purdue University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and has spent more than 25 years dedicated to small animal medicine and surgery. He believes in delivering the highest standard of care while always putting compassion first, living by the philosophy: “Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care.”
A devoted single father to two grown children, Dr. Forsythe shares his home with his beloved pet boa constrictor, Percy. His commitment to both his family and his patients shines through in every interaction, making him a trusted and respected veterinarian within the community.
